Egypt's Prime Minister Sherif Ismael said on Sunday that he had sacked Justice Minister Ahmed El-Zend, who refused to step down two days after making comments that were widely seen as blasphemous. Egypt's justice minister was asked to resign by the prime minister, according to judicial sources, for his comments during a televised interview on Sada El-Balad channel saying he would jail Prophet Muhammad himself if he broke the law. It was not immediately clear who would replace him. El-Zend's predecessor Mahfouz Saber faced the same destiny as he was also forced to resign last May after a wave of criticism he faced due to his remarks that sons of garbage collectors should not be judges.
