Egypt refused Thursday to postpone the voting session on the new Secretary-General of the Arab League after Qatar has submitted a request urging the council to delay the voting, Al-Bawaba News reported. Egypt has officially nominated its former foreign minister Ahmed Aboul-Gheit as chair of the Arab League. Foreign ministers from the 22 countries constituting the league were scheduled to vote on Aboul-Gheit's appointment on Thursday at a Cairo summit. No other country has nominated a secretary-general, with Egyptians traditionally voted to head the league.
