Dozens of Egyptians congregated in front of Cairo Security Directorate and blocked roads in protest of the murder of a taxi driver in a dispute with a policeman. Egypt's Interior Ministry media office said in a statement that the incident took place Thursday night following an argument over the driver's fare in Cairo's Al-Darb Al-Ahmar district. The officer shot and killed the driver after a short dispute. Local media outlets quoted the residents of Al-Darb Al-Ahmar saying the officer had verbally insulted the driver and when the latter objected, the policeman shot the driver in the head. He was beaten by some eyewitness but managed to fled the scene. Security authorities vowed to arrest the killer and open an investigation into the incident.
