Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry described the meetings that he conducted during his current visit to the U.S as fruitful, saying that they reflected the convergence of views between the two sides. He added, in press statements, that the U.S Administration and congressmen stressed the importance of Egypt's role in dealing with the different regional issues, expressing their keenness to support Egypt to achieve development and stability. He clarified that the talks that he conducted with his U.S counterpart John Kerry has not been limited to the regional developments but extended to the ways to increase cooperation between the two countries in different fields. He stressed his government's aspiration to expand the bilateral relations with the U.S and to resume consultations between the two countries during the coming period. Shoukry underlined the recent developments witnessed in the Egyptian arena, including the formation of the new parliament, saying that the country takes serious steps to achieve political and economic reform. Regarding to what promoted over human rights violations committed in Egypt, the Egyptian top diplomat stressed his country's commitment to the international standards of human rights and basic freedoms. He added that the Egyptian people trust their political leadership and its steps in this regard.
