Minister of interior, Magdy Abdel Ghaffar met Monday Chairman of National Council for Human Rights, Mohamad Fayek, to discuss means of cooperation among both entities, Al Masry Al Youm News reported. Abdel Ghaffar confirmed his ministry's commitment to upholding justice, accountability and human rights values. He praised the important role played by the council and its members in defending individual freedoms and consolidating human rights culture in Egypt. On the other hand, Fayek stressed the high appreciation of the council for the sacrifices made by Egyptian policemen to ensure the safety and security of the society. He pointed out that the council members are keen to strengthen cooperation with the ministry in the coming phase, so as to promote respect for human rights and the preservation of freedoms.
