Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed in a statement that a Russian civilian airplane carrying 217 passengers and 7 crew members crashed on Saturday in Egypt's Sinai. The Ministry pointed out that the plane had left Sharm el-Sheikh airport at 5:58 am heading to the Saint Petersburg city in Russia, adding that the plane disappeared from radar screens at 6:20 am. It added that armed forces aircraft wreckage had been found near a mountainous area, pointing out that 45 ambulances were sent to the crash area for the evacuation of deaths and injured passengers in coordination with Suez and Cairo hospitals.
