Egypt's prime minister heads to Sinai to oversee Russian plane crash developments

Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail along with other ministers have headed to Sinai to monitor the latest situation regarding a Russian passenger plane that crashed in central Sinai in the early hours of Saturday.
The aircraft was an Airbus A-321 jet and had 217 passengers and seven crew members on board. It was operated by Russian airline Kogalymavia.
The injury or death toll has yet to be announced. However, Reuters quoted a security official at the scene who said that all passengers are probably dead.
Egyptian air traffic control lost contact with the civilian airliner shortly after it took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh at 5.58 am to head to Russia's St Petersburg, aviation sources said Saturday. The plane lost contact with radar at 6.20am Cairo Local Time (CLT).
The crash was probably caused by a "technical error," according topilot Ayman Al-Mokadem, who is heading a committee to monitor the crash aftermath.
Al-Mokadem added that the pilot seemed to crash while attempting to land at Al-Arish Airport in North Sinai.
An aviation team is on their way to recover the plane's black boxes, to determine the reason for the crash.
