The city of Sharm El Sheikh will host seventh meeting of Arab Women Organization's (AWO) Supreme Council on November 11, Al Bawaba News reported Friday. Head of the organization, Ronak Abdul Wahid will head the meeting, which will discuss the strategic plan of the organization's acivities during the years 2016- 2019. Director-General of the organization, Mervat El Tallawy said in a statement to Al Bawaba that the strategic plan includes a number of objectives, which are for the organization to be a source for indications, data and statistics on women in the Arab region. El Tallawy stressed that the organization seeks to become a key player in the development of charters concerning Arab women, including executable plans and strategies. She explained that the organization also is working to disseminate best practices and experiences, new and creative ideas on the advancement and empowerment of women. The director-general of the organization highlighted the aim of establishing cooperation with authorities regarding issues of common interest and building partnerships with influential social groups and opinion leaders. The plans also include changing the anti-women culture in Arab societies, economic empowerment of women, combating violence against women, empowering women in the face of armed conflict and terrorism, she added.
