Head of Arab League mission following parliamentary elections, Haifa Abu Ghazaleh expressed her satisfaction with electoral process during first phase of parliamentary elections run off round, Al Bawaba News reported Friday. However, Abu Ghazaleh revealed that the mission members, 100 observers from 18 Arab countries, had few recommendations for the High Elections Committee (HEC). She pointed out that the mission members have recommended the HEC, political parties, civil society organizations and media to create awareness about the candidates running for the parliament and to inform voters of the procedures required to count their votes as valid. Abu Ghazaleh also stressed that the mission members recorded few violations to the elections law, which did not affect the electoral process. She revealed the continuation of parties and candidates in campaigning at some polling stations and mentioned that the mission members have recorded few incidents of attempts to influence voters in favor of particular candidates during electoral process. She noted that voter turnout ranged between average and weak, highlighting that most of the voters were from the elderly and women.
