Sudan troops join coalition in Yemen: paper
Published in Albawaba on 18 - 10 - 2015

Around 6,000 Sudanese troops have landed in Aden to join the Saudi-led collation in Yemen, Arab media sources reported on Saturday, according to Mustafa Al Zarooni in the UAE daily, Khaleej Times.
The full story follows: The Sudanese troops will reinforce and cement the Arab coalition troops and will give them a quantum leap in their march to liberate the rest of Yemeni land, commented writer, Jamal Al Duweiri .
The deployment of Sudanese troops implies how determined the Arab coalition is in maintaining and preserving the national security of the region. It also reflects the Sudanese army's seriousness about the security, safety and stability of the region, the sources said.
"Due to Yemen's strategic location, the Arab military forces have to move on," Jamal pointed out.
The participation of the Sudanese troops at this stage will boost the achievements of the Arab collation in its effort to restore Yemen's legitimacy, he added.
Meanwhile, the General Command of UAE Armed Forces on Saturday announced the martyrdom of Captain Hadif Humaid Al Shamsi while taking part in the coalition's Operation Restoring Hope. Yemeni security officials said the officer was killed in a drive-by shooting in Yemen's southern port city of Aden, the sixth assassination of pro-government troop leaders and officials in recent weeks.
The officials said that gunmen on a motorcycle killed the officer as he entered a store the previous night. The soldier was earlier reported to be part of the support team for Emirates Red Crescent aid workers in Yemen.
