Egypt postpones tripartite meeting on Nile dam
The Egyptian government decided to postpone a tripartite committee meeting with Ethiopia and Sudan on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) after the two countries reportedly failed to respond to Cairo's invitation.
An adviser to the Egyptian minister of Irrigation by the name of Ala Yassin told the Turkey-based Anadolu agency that original date for the meeting of October 4-5 has not been agreed upon.
The official disclosed that Ethiopia asked Egypt for postponement since it is in the process of swearing-in a new parliament and forming a new government after the elections which took place last May.
He denied the existence of disagreements between the tripartite committee and the French and Dutch consultancy firms tasked with conducting a technical assessment.

Ibrahim Halawa: Irish teenager's trial in Egypt adjourned until December
The trial of a Dublin teenager held in an Egyptian prison for over two years has been adjourned again until 15 December.
Ibrahim Halawa, the son of the most senior Muslim cleric in the Republic of Ireland, was arrested during a siege on the Al-Fath mosque in Cairo in 2013.
The mass trial of Mr Halawa, 19, and more than 400 others began in March. This was his ninth court appearance.
He could face the death penalty if convicted.
Mr Halawa was on a family holiday to his parents' homeland when he and three of his sisters were arrested by Egyptian security forces during a crackdown on protests in the country's capital.

Egyptian TV: America Controls the Weather—and Is Using It to Destabilize the Middle East
"My apologies today. It is an exceptional episode," says Tamer Amin, one of Egypt's biggest media personalities. "We're going to try and do something a bit different [and] get away from the ongoing events."
What follows in the two-hour episode of "In the End" makes for riveting television: weather control machines, lyrics from the rap group Jedi Mind Tricks, and a shady cabal—the High Council for the World. What ties them together is Egypt and its struggle against terrorism and western conspiracies.
Amin's network is not government owned, although he used to be a presenter on State Television. But the track of the episode is a crude—but clear—pro-government argument.

MIDEAST STOCKS-Saudi, Egypt markets barely move in early trade
Oct 4 The Saudi Arabian and Egyptian stock markets moved little in early trade on Sunday as uncertainty over oil prices and the global market environment kept many investors away.
Egypt's index edged up 0.1 percent as Arab Cotton Ginning, the most heavily traded stock, added 2.2 percent. The stock has been strong in recent weeks partly because of hopes that it will sell some land, boosting profits.
