Israel reopened its embassy in Cairo after four years of closure, Ofir Gendelman, Israeli Prime Minister's Arab Media Spokesperson announced Wednesday. An Israeli diplomatic mission has arrived to Egypt early Wednesday, headed by Foreign Affairs director-general, Dore Gold, to participate in the reopening ceremony of the embassy. Deputy Chief of Protocol in the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and the US ambassador to Egypt participated in the ceremony and congratulated the Israeli Ambassador Haim Koren on the special occasion. After an angry mob that took over the Israeli embassy in Cairo following Jan. 25th revolution, the embassy staff was forced to evacuate the building, making the ambassador's residence as the official Israeli embassy building until a new building is constructed.
