Prime Minister, Ibrahim Mahlab met Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Italian Eni petroleum cooperation, Claudio Descalzi to discuss expanding petroleum activities in Egypt, Al-Watan News reported Sunday. Mahlab and the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources welcomed Descalzi's accompanying delegation to discuss ways of expanding the cooperation's petroleum activities in Egypt. Spokesman for the Prime Ministry, Hossam Al Qawish said that Descalzi reviewed the history of the cooperation's work in Egypt, which began nearly 60 years ago, as well as the joint efforts with the Ministry of Petroleum in the field of exploration of oil and gas. Descalzi highlighted during the meeting, the existence of opportunities and promising potentials in those sectors. He explained that there is progress in the implementation of the development of petroleum production and increase in business plans, as well as the development of new oil discoveries. He gave a presentation on the activities of oil research and exploration in the Mediterranean and Nile Delta, in addition to the development of existing fields to increase oil production. Also, the Minister of Petroleum stressed that Mahlab expressed the government's intentions to provide all aspects of support and cooperation for companies operating in the field of oil research and exploration. Mahlab also expressed the government's readiness to remove any obstacles or problems that oil companies may have, in order to provide more petroleum products, as well as new job opportunities for young people. The prime minister also asked Eni's CEO to consider the possibility of establishing a school to teach young people about oil research, exploration, drilling and other related activities, in an attempt to create a generation of adequate young people who are familiar with the latest technology in the field of oil research and exploration.
