Emirates Red Crescent conducts field survey in Aden
Published in Albawaba on 23 - 08 - 2015

The Emirates Red Crescent has formed a commission of the region's citizens to conduct field surveys and construct a database of the eight districts of the province of Aden.
The field survey aims to calculate the number of the province's inhabitants, and determine the actual needs of each family in preparation for the first phase of distribution of first-aid relief to everyone, without exception.
Hassan Al Jesmi, ERC's Director in Yemen, has stated that there will be daily updates of the survey's statistics regarding the numbers of inhabitants of the eight districts, adding that the survey will include data regarding the number of family members, ages, genders, and the number of special-needs citizens, to determine their exact needs. He explained that the field survey will be conducted over a period of several months, however, the first-aid relief efforts will be conducted as they go.
He also pointed out that the list of inhabitants' names will be corroborated through identification such as passport, driving license, birth certificate, etc., and the original address of residents due to the presence of displaced people who have moved from other places in search of safety and security away from the war.
He added that the data will be confirmed through officials such as imams and other accredited authorities. He also confirmed that the second phase will focus on healthcare-aid especially providing children's needs such as milk, and women's health care. He also said that the field team is currently made up of over eighty men and women from Aden, and increasing. He also confirmed that these individuals have been chosen according to their competence and experience in carrying out census surveys.
Al Jesmi said that the ERC is currently looking for suitable and permanent office accommodation in Aden in preparation for an official inauguration, adding that the current work-team is one hundred percent Emirati, and will study its needs for Yemeni recruits that are needed to work alongside the Emirati team, explaining that the purpose of the office is to offer aid, follow-up and carry out humanitarian projects such as care for orphans, building or renovating mosques and schools. The ERC office will also supervise future phases that include the distribution of medical and educational aid currently being prepared for the up-coming school year.
