Chairman of Dostour Party (Constitution Party) Hala Shukrallah has stepped down as the head of the party, due to disputes among the party's members, Al Masry Al Youm reported Monday. Shukrallah attributed her resignation to her concern about the future of the party, since the conflict inside it threatens its continuity. Dostour Party's Elders Council had given Shukrallah a 48-hour respite to get an advisory opinion from the Political Parties Committee (PPC) on the party's internal elections; otherwise, she should step down from the party's presidency. Sources in Dostour predicted that Ayman Awad, head of Elders Council, will announce a new timetable for electing the party's chairman, secretary-general and treasurer within two days.
