Dostour Party's Elders Council agreed to give Hala Shukrallah, chairman of the party, a 48-hour respite to get an advisory opinion from the Political Parties Committee (PPC) on the party's internal elections; otherwise, she should step down from the party's presidency. The Elders Council threatened to file a lawsuit to the Administrative Court, protesting Shukrallah's decision to form a committee from the representatives of the four lists competing in the elections, to oversee the electoral process. Shukrallah suggested that the committee to be headed by a leading independent partisan. Sources in Dostour predicted that Ayman Awad, head of Elders Council, will announce a new timetable for electing the party's chairman, secretary-general and treasurer within two days.
