Security sources said an improvised explosive device (IED) has just blown up near the Demo Prison in Al Fayoum Province, southern Egypt, with no casualties reported, al-Bawaba News reported. Police officials released no further details on the apparently Muslim Brotherhood-linked incident. Earlier on Saturday, a policeman was shot killed and three others were injured in an attack against a police vehicle in the New Valley Province. The police said they had been exerting efforts to determine the identities of the perpetrators. Since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi, July 2013, a series of terrorist attacks have been committed against police and military personnel, mostly in the restive Sinai Peninsula, leaving hundreds of casualties.
