During a speech he delivered at new Suez Canal inauguration ceremony, Head of Suez Canal Authority, Mohab Mamish highly lauded the Egyptian people who created "a new history of challenge and struggle", constructing the new Canal in only a year. Mamish commended the January 25 and June 30 revolutions that brought the Egyptians a climate of freedom and dignity, adding that the Egyptian people supported the country's leadership and government in this project, pointing out that Egypt today is celebrating its biggest project in the 21st century.
Mamish lauded the role played by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as well as the "unprecedented cooperation between the military and the Egyptian people" to get the giant project implemented in a year, stressing the new canal is an initial step towards Egypt's comprehensive development, particularly in the Suez Canal Axis development project. At the end of his speech, Mamish thanked the world leaders who attended the inauguration ceremony and praised the Egyptian army-linked Engineering Authority as well as workers and people for their efforts in this huge project that showed the world the true meaning of the Egyptian National Unity.
