Egypt's Minister of Endowments, Mohamed Mokhtar Joma'a said in a statement the "Al Azhar Scholars Front" should be listed as a terrorist group, considering it a source of defamation for religion and the country, al-Bawaba News reported Saturday. Mr. Joma'a called on the security circles to take strict actions against the members of the front that is allegedly linked to the banned Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group. Al-Azhar, the world's biggest Sunni organization, dissolved the front over suspicious links with the MB organization. The statement also slammed the International Union for Muslim Scholars as an arm of the MB group. The MB, which was ousted in July 2013, was listed in Sept. the same year as a terrorist organization according to a court ruling after a string of deadly blasts killing and injuring hundreds, mostly in the Sinai Peninsula. "People who help this front or paper over its crimes betray their nation and religion," the statement read.
