France's President Francois Holland will fly to Egypt on Aug. 6 upon Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's invitation to attend the New Suez Canal Corridor inauguration, the French presidency announced, Al-Bawaba News reported Thursday. In its statement, the Elysee Palace said that the ceremony will be a culmination of this giant successful project doubling the capacity of tankers crossing the canal which will help to accelerate economic development projects for areas adjacent to the canal. Holland's visit will also aim to address issues of common interest and regional relations, the statement added. The visit comes one month after the concluded sale of three Rafal fighter jets to Egypt which are scheduled to participate in the New Suez Canal ceremony.
