Security forces detained Tuesday a Salafist for manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Massarah district, Cairo governorate, Al Bawaba newspaper reported. At least 17 IEDs, a number of hand grenades and explosive material were found in the possession of Mohamoud Sayed, who is a Salafist and owns a factory of which he used to manufacture IEDS inside it. Sayed revealed, during the investigations that he was intending to use these explosives to target the army personnels and policemen, as well as state institutions. The investigation was conducted by the Homeland Security officers who already had him under surveillance. After authorities received a notification of an IED explosion in Massarah, Homeland Security Authority instructed the security forces to detain Sayed.
