Egypt's presidential spokesperson Alaa Yussef said on Thursday his country and the United States will hold a "strategic dialogue" in July, Al Bawaba News reported. In a phone call, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry discussed holding a "strategic dialogue" on July 28-29, Mr. Yussef said. Al Sisi welcomed the return of the Egypt-U.S. relations, hoping the two countries "would enhance cooperation in various fields", the spokesperson added. The dialogue comes amid precursors of rapprochement between the two countries after they had passed a period of strained ties over the ouster of MB president Mohamed Morsi July 2013. Following the overthrow of Morsi, Washington froze $1.3 billion in annual military aid to Cairo. The U.S. denounced judicial verdicts against affiliates of the terrorist group.
