In a press conference, held at the Artistic Creativity Centre in Cairo Opera House, Samir Farid, Festival President of 36th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), unveiled the full program of the event scheduled to start Sunday. It was revealed that the International Competition features 16 films from across 14 countries whereas the festival's Special Screenings section will include 13 films. Meanwhile, Egyptian star Yousra has been selected by Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) as the jury of the International Competition at its 36th edition (November 9-18). Yousra is the first Egyptian assigned as the Jury President in the history of the festival competition. The jury includes 8 leading film professionals from across the Arab world, Asia, Africa and Europe; featuring filmmakers, scriptwriters, producers, cinematographers and critics. One of the most notable auteurs on the list is Wang Xiaoshuai, whose most recent film Red Amnesia has contended at Venice Film Festival this year. The Cairo International Film Festival, established in 1976, is the most important annual film festival in the Arab world. It is the only international competitive feature film festival recognized by the FIAPF in the Arab world and Africa, as well as the oldest in this category.
