Egypt's Defence Minister, Sedki Sobhi signed Tuesday in Cairo a memorandum of understanding on military cooperation with his Spanish counterpart Pedro de Morenés, according to Al-Ahram newspaper. The memorandum included the "exchange of experience" and "joint training" between both countries, in a meeting attended by Egyptian army chief of staff Mahmoud Hegazy and a number of officials. Egypt and Spain previously signed an agreement on "crime and security cooperation", when President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visited Spain in late April, within a two-day European tour, which also included Cyprus. Spanish investments in Egypt exceed 700 million Euros ($784 million) in the fields of gas, cement, renewable energy, automotive industry and railroads.
