Both Saudi and Yemeni military officials held Wednesday an urgent meeting at Al Tewal border crossing to ensure security position of the important passage, according to reports. Yemeni security sources said that the Saudi officials asked the Yemeni side to inform the Saudi-led coalition of any attacks carried by the Houthi rebels on the crossing. The sources added that Saudi Arabia had sent a note to military forces loyal to legitimate Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, asking them to eliminate the Houthi rebels near the crossing and deploy more tanks and forces in the area. Meanwhile, Colonel Ali Al Qaisy, Governor of Al Huga province, has contacted with the Houthis and advised them to evacuate the crossing from their elements to avoid the Saudi raids on the region. Houthi fighters have taken over several cities in Yemen, including the capital Sana'a, a development which prompted Saudi Arabia and regional allies to carry out airstrikes against them to halt their advance. Saudi Arabia has opened three crossings to transfer trapped foreigners including "Al-Tewal", "Al-Wadia" and "Al-Khadraa" between Yemen and Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, Yemeni Vice President Khalid Bahah had visited on Monday the Yemeni Embassy in Riyadh to review the latest developments in the Yemeni crisis and efforts exerted by the government to overcome it.
