President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi said Friday that Egypt's participation in the Saudi-led 'Decisive Storm' operations against Yemeni Houthi rebels was restricted to only naval and air forces, Al Bawaba News reported. Sisi, addressing the cadets in Cairo's Military Academy, denied that Egypt had deployed ground troops in Yemen, adding, however, that deployment was a possibility if need be. The president stated "Defending Egyptians is our responsibility as well as preserving the stability and safety of the whole region." "Egypt is keen on reaching a political solution to the conflict in Yemen", he added. Egypt has declared its political and military support, as well as its participation with the Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen with aerial and naval forces, as well as a ground force if necessary, to halt the Shiite Houthis' sweep over the country.
