Families in the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria filed a lawsuit against Salafi leader, Yasser Borhamy, accusing him of recruiting their sons to join Al Nusra Front in Syria, Al Bawaba News reported Saturday. The families claimed that Borhamy and other Salafist clerics, had led their sons to their deaths by persuading them to join the Jihad against Syrian President Bashar Al Assad. The lawsuit also accuses Salafist charities of fundraising to send young recruits to fight in the Syrian civil war, which broke out in 2011. Borhamy, 56, told Al Bawaba News earlier this year that a large number of Salafist youths sympathized with the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) and wanted to defend it.
