The Iraqi army killed 11 Islamic State jihadist group (IS) militants in Samarra and Tikrit, Al Bawaba News reported Monday. Security sources said that Iraqi warplanes targeted IS positions in Samarra, killing 6 militants and destroying 3 vehicles. In Tikrit, the army thwarted an attempt by IS militants to seize control over Alas oilfields, Killing 5 militants and destroying 2 vehicles, security sources told Deutsche Presse Agentur (DPA). The sources added that 2 soldiers were killed during the clashes between IS militants and Iraqi army in Tikrit.
