Spokesperson for health Ministry, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar confirmed that an explosion at Cairo University left eight wounded on Saturday, including police officers. Security forces were immediately deployed to the scene to scan it for evidence and other potential threats. Paramedics transferred the injured to nearby hospitals for medical aid. Security sources revealed that an explosive package planted in front of the subway gate at the university was behind the explosion. The university students and staff were evacuated and the gates were closed. Tight security measures have been applied across Egypt to secure the 26th Arab Summit held in Sharm El Sheikh on Saturday.
