Al Gama'a Al Islamiya launched a campaign to reform its religious discourse and confront the Islamic State (IS) ideology which 'uses violence to target innocent people as well as the Egyptian army and police,' sources told Al Bawaba News Sunday. The group's Shura Council declared it was implementing this reform by following the 'moderate views', according to them, of Sheikh Aboud Al Zamor, founder and first emir of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, sentenced to life in prison for his implication in the assassination of late president Anwar Al Sadat in 1981. The group will launch initiatives for a rapprochement with State authorities, to avoid being designated as a terrorist entity like the Muslim Brotherhood, the sources added.
