A bomb explosion has rocked the northern Egyptian city of el-Mahalla el-Kubra, leaving two people dead and 16 others injured.
According to the Egyptian medical sources, the blast took place in front of a branch of an Emirati bank in el-Mahalla el-Kubra in Gharbia Province late on Friday night, claiming the lives of a policeman and a civilian.
Egypt's Deputy Health Secretary Mohamed Sharshar said the 25-year-old policeman was transferred to a hospital following the attack, but later succumbed to his injuries.

Egypt to open Rafah crossing with Gaza Monday
Egyptian authorities have decided to reopen the Rafah crossing on the border with the Gaza Strip for two days as of Monday, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported.
According to the broadcaster, patients and humanitarian aid will be allowed via the terminal during the two-day opening.
Nevertheless, Maher Abu Sabha, the head of Gaza's border authority, said his authority had not been officially notified about the crossing reopening.
Egypt closed the Rafah border crossing, Gaza's only access to the outside world not under Israeli control, in October following an attack on a military site in the Sinai Peninsula that left 31 Egyptian troops dead.

Egypt Executes an Islamist Supporter of Ousted President
Egypt's government carried out the death penalty for the first time against an Islamist supporter of the ousted President Mohamed Morsi on Saturday, executing a man convicted of murder during the political violence that followed the military takeover of the government in 2013, the Interior Ministry said.
The man, Mahmoud Ramadan, was seen among the attackers in a well-publicized video that showed teenagers being thrown from a rooftop water tower.
Egyptian officials said Mr. Ramadan had confessed to murdering one of the teenagers, Mohamed Badr al-Din, and was executed by hanging after he had exhausted all of his appeals.

Porn at the Pyramids: investigation after tourists make adult film at ancient wonder
Egyptian tourist bosses have launched an investigation into a pornography video apparently shot near Egypt's famous Pyramids.
The video shows an adult film star called Aurita revealing her breasts outside the Pyramids of Giza, the Islamic country's most iconic cultural site.
Aurita, believed to be Russian, complains about having to visit the historic landmarks before carrying out a sex act on her male co-star, nearby the only remaining Wonder of the Ancient World.
Before the sex act, the camera follows Aurita as she wanders around the famous sites, surrounded by street vendors.
"A set of sexually explicit scenes was illegally filmed inside the Giza Necropolis by a foreign tourist while visiting the site," Antiquities Minister Mamdouh al-Damati told Egyptian Streets.
