President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi inspected Wednesday the Western military zone, on the borders with Libya, to check on security conditions, troops and meet with tribal elders, Aswat Masriya news reported. Al Sisi stressed on the necessity to eliminate terrorism along the western borders, praising the role of tribal Sheikhs in preventing the infiltration of terrorists and criminals across the borders, urging them to keep handing unlicensed and smuggled weapons to the armed forces. Security sources told Youm7 that the aim of the President's visit was to lift the morale of the troops deployed on the borders with Libya. The president requested state authorities in the Matrouh province to provide necessary support to all Egyptian citizens returning from Libya. Egyptian air forces carried out airstrikes Monday, targeting IS sites in Libya, in reprisal for the beheading of 21 Egyptian Christians by IS militants.
