German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Saturday that her government is working on a draft bill allowing the confiscation of passports of people who travel to Syria or Iraq to join the Islamic State and other terrorist groups, according to Sky News Arabia. Merkel expressed her country's determination to fight terrorism, adding that Germany will train anti-IS fighters in Northern Iraq. A number of European countries have issued emergency laws that revoke the citizenship of people connected to terror groups. The Dutch government announced recently that it will confiscate the passports of suspected militants even without prosecution. Meanwhile, the UK has dropped the nationality of a British family of Pakistani origins over accusations of having connections with Al Qaeda. A French court revoked the citizenship of a man of Moroccan origin late December over terror-related charges. The Egyptian lobby in Germany announced Friday it will form an entity to combat the influence and propaganda of extremist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood in Germany.
