Ministry of Interior issued Tuesday a report on the ministry's efforts against terrorism in Alexandria and Menofia. The ministry said 10 members of "Death cell", a terrorist group affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) were arrested in Alexandria, over charges of illegal possession of firearms and explosives to be used against police and civilians. Three machineguns, 9 rifles, a pistol, rubber bullets, large amount of high-explosive materials and electrical circuits used in manufacturing bombs, 2 cars, and fake license plates were found in their possession, the Ministry stated, confirming that the detainees confessed their plans to attack Al-Laban police station and Khurshid police checkpoint. Investigations revealed the suspects' responsibility for the attack on a police deportation car belonging to Sidi Gaber police department December 23, 2014, leaving Officer Ibrahim Younis killed, in addition to, planting several bombs across Alexandria. Three MB members were arrested in Menofia, with an explosive device in their possession, to be used in bombing Quesna railways station. The suspects confessed their responsibility for several terrorist attacks targeting power lines in Menofia.
