The third edition of the Egyptian & European Film Festival launched Saturday in Luxor Temple, with the presence of Luxor governor, Tarek Saad Eddin. Head of "Nun" Foundation, Mohamed Kamel Qeliobi, festival chairman, Magda Wassef, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Culture, Mohammed Afifi and many Egyptian and European cinema stars attended the opening. Many Egyptian stars, who acted in "cat and mouse" movie, took part in the festival's events, such as Lebleba, Mahmoud Hemeda, Muhammad Faraj, in addition to Writer, Fatima Naaot and famous French director, Yves Boisah. The festival witnessed the honoring of Lebleba and Boisah, who will also be honored at the last day of the festival, which will be concluded on 31st of January. 12 feature films and 16 short films will compete in the festival, including "Corn Island" by Georgian Giorgi Oovashvala, who won four awards at Montpelier International Film Festival, "paths cross" by Dietrich Brueggemann, who won the award for Best Screenplay at Berlin film Festival, and "Lafeathan" by Russian Andrei Zviakntsev, who won the award for best film and best Actor at Abu Dhabi film Festival. The opening film in the festival was the German film "Pharaoh wife", which was restored after 93 years of production. The Committee in the festival chose 66 films to display during the festival's events, and the committee decided to dedicate its third edition of the festival to Egyptian legendary actress, Faten Hamama. The festival is organized by "Nun" foundation for culture and arts, which is an Egyptian NGO. Egyptian & European Film Festival aims at promoting cultural awareness between Egypt and Europe. The festival also seeks to support this historic city and promotes for the return of tourism.
