Chad's President Idriss Déby called for a broad military coalition of central African countries to confront the Islamist Nigerian group Boko Haram in Nigeria and Cameron, in a speech read before the Parliament on Saturday. "We answered the call of Cameroon's President Paul Biya. We cannot remain indifferent to what happens to our neighbors," Deby said. A huge convoy set off from Chad's capital N'Djamena consisting of 400 armed vehicles and arrived in the Cameroonian border town of Kousseri on Saturday to combat the Islamists sowing terror in northeastern Nigeria and northern Cameroon. Boko Haram has recently launched several attacks on the strategic town of Baga on the borders of Chad, Nigeria, Niger and Cameroon, claiming the lives of hundreds of locals in the region. Deby asserted that the new deployment aimed to recapture Baga from the hands of the militants.
