Egypt's Coptic Orthodox Church celebrated Christmas Tuesday at the biblical church of Egypt. Sermons began with prayers, Christmas carols and praise songs. Presidential envoy, Tarek Afifi, former President Adly Mansour, Cairo's governor Galal Alsaeed, Alazhar's envoy and a delegation of Egypt's political parties attended the sermons to congratulate Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria. Coptic Orthodox celebrate Christmas on January 7, in festive sermons across Egypt's churches; Egyptians celebrate Christmas as a secular holiday, supermarkets sell Christmas trees, Christmas food and decorations. Hotels, parks and streets are decorated for Christmas.
