Ministry of Antiquities restored 36 ancient historical pieces that were going to be sold in an auction in "Bonhams" London according to Al-Bawabh News today. Dr. Mamdouh Eldamaty Minister of Antiquities said that the artifacts were gifted by Egypt Exploration Society to the American Institute of Archaeology in St. Louis in 1914. The minister was discontent about attempt of selling the pieces, pointing to that the officials are currently studying mechanisms to prevent museums and scientific institutions from selling ancient artifacts, as their role should be only for education and culture. Ali Ahmed, Head recovered Antiquities Department at the Ministry of Antiquities, said that his administration Egyptian embassy in London and Ambassador of Egypt in UNESCO Dr. Mohamed Sameh Amr in addition to the International Alliance for the Protection of Egyptian Antiquities, to stop selling the artifacts.
