PRESIDENT Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi visited the Road Al-Farag axis on Monday to follow up on work on the new highway which links the north and east of Cairo with western areas of the city. Parallel to the 26 July axis and the first route connecting western Cairo with the city's ring roads, the new highway will reduce traffic jams and cut travel times. Al-Sisi also checked on the progress of the Tahya Misr Nile bridge, east of the Warraq island, the world's widest flyover, and inspected the new Sphinx International Airport, west of Cairo. Once operational the new passenger facility, planned to serve Al-Sheikh Zayed, 6 October City and governorates such as Fayoum and Beni Sweif, is expected to reduce pressure on Cairo International Airport.
