“Roznama 5” is a periodical, not necessarily regular, competition and exhibition of contemporary visual art by aspiring young Egyptians, organized by Medrar for Contemporary Arts, Mashrabia Gallery of Contemporary Art, and SOMA Art School and Gallery.
The competition's objective is to encourage creative contemporary artists, which are distinguished from the classical forms taught at art academies. This is achieved through providing a space for experimentation, research, and mixed media and multimedia production. “Roznama 5” also takes interest in traditional art forms, such as painting, sculpting, and avant-garde photography. It aspires to become a platform that presents distinguished art works, introducing artists from Egypt and supporting them by all possible means.
Among other participating artists: Ahmed Mohsen, Ahmed Sorour, Ahmed Tawfik, Amany Nabil, Amira Al-Badry, Dalia Al Rashidi, Ibrahim Almoly, Eman Hamdy, Hadeer Omar, Hend Moaaz, Iman Ibrahim, Maged Al-Sokkary, Mahmoud Al-Attar, Malak Yacout, Mariam Salem, Marwa Abdel-Moneim, Mohamed Hammam, Mona Essam, Mustafa Al-Husseiny, Zeina Medwar.
Sorour's artwork entitled,“Stopper”is a small 3D-printed grey sculptural object which looks like a dog's muzzle.
