“Small Art Works 2015", is Duroubgallery's annual exhibition of miniatures with artist HalimYacoub as the guest of honour. The collective exhibition has been inaugurated by Yacoub with the participation of 60 artists representing the different generations including among many others EhabLofi, Ahmed Selim, Hassan Al-Shark, Samir Fouad, Mai Heshmat, HebaFikry, Nagwa Al-Mahdi, Lina Amin, MervatRefaat, Michael Maalouf, Mustafa Yehia and Mohamed Sabri. Some of them are taking part for the first time with the aim of coping with the latest art movements, styles and techniques. In this exhibition, Yacoub decided to demonstrate how pieces of sculpture and paintings that brilliantly depicted the horse, as an animal that symbolizes graceful beauty. Yacoub gained his reputation as a unique sculptor who worked hard to secure a place in the world of the contemporary Egyptian sculpture. He excelled in carving miniature sculptures that are characterized by a finesse, delicacy and smoothness and is famous for his aware ability to sum up the elements and movements as well as the pulses preserving the steadiness in the sculpted piece. Born in Egypt on 7 April 1937, Yacoubgraduated from the department of Interior Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University in 1960. In 1967, he also obtained a diploma from Zurich Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. He held a number of solo exhibitions and participated in several group exhibitions in Egypt and abroad and lately in Canada and Italy. He sculpted with the metallic element of bronze seven square statues in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, together with veteran artist Salah Abdel-Kerim from 1981 to 1985.
