Sat 31, 6pm: Edward Said Memorial Lecture: "A Settler- Colonialism of Her Own: Imagining Palestine's Alternatives," by Lila Abu-Lughod, professor of anthropology, women's and gender studies at Columbia University. The lecture is hosted by the AUC's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. It will reflect on Palestine's current impasses and imaginatively explore its possible futures through a detour through the experiences of unexpected places and peoples.

The conference will showcase comparative and interdisciplinary approaches to issues related to public space, heritage and urban culture, the revitalization of Cairo's Downtown in the context of gentrification and securitization and urban governance. It will consist of public plenary sessions as well as urban walking tours.
