On the contrary, Egypt's young people have a capacity to turn the hardest of times into a creative opportunity, amazing those who have witnessed it. Young scientists and entrepreneurs have been developing all kinds of gadgets and innovations that can improve lives and develop communities, and this despite the country's difficult economic situation and the small scientific budget made available by the government. This year highlights a trend that started a few years ago — of Egypt's young people uniting with each other to achieve bigger impacts, whether social, artistic, scientific or in terms of human development. Young minds have learnt that solidarity can make dreams come true, and so they naturally think of others in social initiatives that aim to widen the circle of knowledge and development. Egypt's young people are inspirational. As 2014 comes to an end, we salute the young minds and hearts that have brought us hope and courage just by being their special selves.
