The Cross Arabia Challenge is the next motorcycle rally series to be held in the Middle East. Its introductory season will take place from 13 to 20 June 2014, covering 2,300 km between Egypt and Jordan. The route of the 2014 season of the Cross Arabia Challenge will start from Egypt's capital and pass through the Sinai Peninsula before crossing the Gulf of Aqaba to Jordan to ride past six of Jordan's top destinations: Aqaba, Petra, Karak, Amman, Jarash and the Dead Sea. After completing the Jordanian part of the route, the participants will head back down to Egypt to ride between Nuba and Sharm El-Sheikh en route to Cairo where the Cross Arabia Challenge will come to its end at the foot of the Giza Pyramids. The Cross Arabia Challenge brings together participants from five different countries including Egypt, the United Kingdom, Romania, Brunei and Germany. The participants are expected to arrive to Egypt in early June to prepare for the rally. The Cross Arabia Challenge is the second event of its kind, following the successful annual Cross Egypt Challenge, which caught media attention in its first three seasons and managed to secure an international reach of over 300 million people in less than 24 months. Ahmed Al-Zoghbi, the official spokesperson of the new challenge, said, “The Cross Arabia Challenge is a unique adventure for both athletes, and adventure travellers as it combines the best of the two worlds in a cross-country rally format. The route of this year's challenge, although shorter than some of the other rallies we have created, is very challenging and has been carefully planned to offer a diverse and complete riding experience for the participating riders.” Marking the 42nd anniversary of Cameroon's independence, a prestigious reception was held at the Marriott Hotel in Zamalek under the auspices of the Cameroonian Ambassador to Egypt Mohamadou Labarang.
