♣ The feature length documentary My Love Awaits Me by the Sea by Jordanian-Palestinian director Mais Darwazah was officially selected to participate in the young talents section of the 38th Toronto International Film Festival that runs from 5 to 15 September. My Love Awaits Me by the Sea is the director's first feature-length work, poetically narrating her first-time journey to Palestine. Leaving behind her sheltered life, she follows a lover she has never met, Hassan Hourani, a Palestinian artist who unveils a utopian world to her. The film pays tribute to Hourani, a Palestinian artist who, with his imagination, rises above the Israeli occupation. Hourani completed Hassan is Everywhere, a children's book of illustrations and poetry, just before his tragic death by drowning in the forbidden sea of Jaffa in 2003.
