Takafulexperts in Cairo
LOCAL and international Islamic finance experts are scheduled to meet next week in Cairo to discuss takaful, or Islamic insurance, at the seventh International Takaful Summit (ITS). It will be the first time the conference is held outside London.
“We are delighted to be holding ITS 2013 in Cairo this year,” said Mohannad Abdallah, managing director of Istishar iQ. “Egypt is the market that exhibits the greatest potential for takaful growth in the region,” Abdallah added.
Istishar iQ is a London-based consultancy firm which organises the annual gathering along with Afkar Consulting.
The two-day summit will feature 50 international speakers who will share their experiences of various markets and will seek to establish a road map for expanding the industry. The gathering will seek to further push the boundaries of the discourse necessary to realise the potential that the takaful industry possesses.
German training
AROUND 1,000 Egyptian craftsmen in the construction industry are getting ready to benefit from a new project designed specifically to train Egyptian workers and engineers.
The two-year construction project, announced in a kick-off event organised by the German-Arab Chamber of Commerce in Egypt under the title “Professional qualification in the Egyptian construction sector”, offers vocational training and green construction workshops to introduce engineers and workers to the latest German building standards.
Equipment, devices and machines needed in targeted vocational centres will be granted by the project which is funded by the Federal Foreign Office in Germany under the umbrella of the German-Egyptian Transformation Partnership.
