Preview: Group B race heats up in Egyptian Premier League
Petrojet, Ismaily and Zamalek continue their race to occupy the first two spots in Group B of the Egyptian Premier League

A three-horse race for the two Group B spots in the Egyptian Premier League heats up as Petrojet, Ismaily and Zamalek continue their battle to qualify for the final mini-league phase.
The three teams are in action on Sunday, with Petrojet tipped favourites to advance from the group as they lie on top on 33 points, six ahead of Ismaily and eight clear of Zamalek.
However, Petrojet played two games more than both teams. If their challengers win their matches in hand, Petrojet will be on level on points with Ismaily and only two ahead of Zamalek.
Petrojet, who defeated Zamalek 4-2 in an action-packed top-of-the-table clash last week, face an in-form Ittihad El-Shorta side while Ismaily play El-Gaish, who are second from bottom.
Zamalek take on Qanah in a late kick-off, looking to replicate the form that saw them crush the promoted side 4-0 in the corresponding fixture in February.
The Cairo giants, who are chasing their first league title since 2004, will miss striker Ahmed Gaafar, full-back Ahmed Samir and defender Hani Said, who were all omitted from the squad for technical reasons.
Samir and Said were particularly blamed for leaving huge gaps at the back against Petrojet, with their opponents making the most of the defensive frailties to score four goals.
The winners and runners-up of both groups will advance to a four-team mini-league phase to determine the league champion.
