Zamalek faces 3-year ban, says CAF official
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) may hit Zamalek with a three year ban following the riots in Saturday's CAF Champions League match against Club Africain

Egypt's Zamalek face a one to three year suspension from playing in African interclub competitions after the pitch invasion by fans in their game with Tunisia's Club Africain on Saturday.
“Zamalek may face a severe punishment for the violent behaviour of their supporters. We are waiting for the referee's report to announce our final decision,” Amr Shaheen, head of the CAF marketing committee, told DPA on Sunday.
Thousands of Zamalek's angry fans invaded the pitch in injury time at Cairo stadium, and attacked the referee and Club Africain, as their team was on the verge of elimination.
The referee called the game off in a scene that sparked disgust all over Egypt.
“Zamalek may be banned from all African competitions from one to three years,” he added.
However Shaheen eased the fears surrounding the fate of other Egyptian teams who managed to survive this round.
“There will not be any sanctions against the Egyptian FA or any other Egyptian clubs, as these acts were the sole responsibility of the hosts, Zamalek,” the CAF official concluded.
CAF have decided to form a committee to investigate and penalise the Egyptian side for the riots that ensued when Zamalek fans invaded the pitch.
