Chelsea striving to keep in touch with Arsenal and Manchester City, says captain Chelsea captain John Terry believes his team is doing well in the English Premier League as their target is to stay close to leaders Arsenal and Man City
After beating Manchester United 3-1 in the English Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Chelsea captain John Terry praised his teammates and asked them to challenging for the title until the end of the season. Cameroon star Samuel Eto'o scored a hat-trick for the Blues while Javier Hernandez scored the only goal for United in the 78th minute. "I think in the first 15 minutes they was definitely on top in the game but we didn't panic, kept our shape and hit them on the counter attack with a great goal from Samuel," Terry was quoted as saying on Chelsea's official website after the game. Chelsea are third in the league with 49 points, two points behind leaders Arsenal and just a point behind second place Manchester City. "We're pushing, we're trying to keep in touch with Arsenal and Manchester City," the Chelsea defender added. "As the manager said, those two (Arsenal, Man City) are looking really strong at the moment. But it's important we keep within touching distance of them." Eto'o loves big games The 33-year-old Chelsea captain also praised Samuel Eto'o who seized on slack defending to score his first Chelsea hat-trick. Eto'o boosted his overall goal tally to eight for the season with two strikes in the first half and a third early in the second. "I said to him (Eto'o) before the game we need a goal from him and he said he loves the big games," Terry said. It was the first hat-trick from the 32-year-old since he moved to England last year from Russia's Anzhi Makhachkala where he was the world's highest paid player, according to media reports. "We could see he was up for it before the game and it was great for him to get his hat-trick," Terry concluded.
