Egypt's main index rose 1.79 percent on Thursday, while the broader EGX70 inched up 1.14 percent. Egyptian investors were net-buyers, to the tune of LE77.6 million. Total turnover of listed stocks registered LE696.1 million at the close of the day. Out of 181 stocks traded, 145 were in the black. In the EGX30, blue chips Commercial International Bank (CIB) inched up 1.16 percent, Telecom Egypt by 1.18 percent, and investment bank EFG-Hermes by 2.25 percent. Other gainers include Ezz Steel, which increased 0.61 percent, Arab Cotton Ginning by 2.49 percent, and Palm Hills Development Company by 2.37 percent.
